Postăvăria Română, Șos Morarilor 1, București
Joi, 2 februarie 2012 va avea loc la Make a Point vernisajul expoziției Ultima Revoluție Analogică, O cutie a Memoriei. Proiectul a fost prezentat la cea de-a 54-a ediție a Bienalei de la Veneția, în cadrul Romanian Cultural Resolution-documentary, în perioada 1 Septembrie – 27 Noiembrie 2011.
Ultima Revoluție Analogică, O cutie a Memoriei reunește 7 artiști europeni deopotrivă din Est și din Vest, care reflectă asupra conceptelor de revoluție și diviziune geo-politică. Expoziția prezintă sub forma unei instalații o serie de lucrări video realizate de Ștefan Constantinescu (RO/SE), Peter Forgacs (HU), Zuzanna Janin (PL), Karen Mirza&Brad Butler (UK), Deimantas Narkevicius (LT) si Yves Netzhammer (Elveția); o lucrare audio a artistei Liliana Moro (IT) și o sculptura semnată de Via Lewandowski (DE).
Dacă valul de schimbări care a cuprins Nordul Africii și Orientul Mijlociu este cunoscut sub numele de Revoluția Digitală, evenimentele din 1989 pot fi grupate sub titlul generic de Revoluție Analogica. Pentru revoluțiile zilelor noastre, libera circulație a informației funcționează ca un catalizator al revoltei sociale. În cazul revoluțiilor din 1989, televiziunea este cea care a jucat un rol esențial, realizând primul contact între doua lumi separate. Acest proiect a reflectat asupra relației dintre evoluție tehnologică si revoluție, iar la un nivel mai profund, asupra ideii de diviziune prin politica zidurilor și granițelor.
Prin reconsiderarea trecutului, inițiatorii proiectului deschid calea pentru o dezbatere mai largă despre politica granițelor. La douăzeci de ani după căderea Zidului Berlinului, alte ziduri și bariere rămân în picioare sau sunt construite în diferite părți ale lumii.

Romanian Cultural Resolution-documentary este un proiect inițiat de Adrian Bojenoiu și Alexandru Niculescu și produs de către Centrul pentru cultura contemporana Club Electro Putere din Craiova. RCR documentary este o platforma de documentare și cercetare a contextului artistic contemporan din România recentă, urmărind soluțiile și tendințele pe care artele vizuale le-au dezvoltat în ultimii ani.

Projekt ZEJDZIEMY Z MURÓW GDY WEJDZIEMY DO TV to akcja inaugurującą szereg działań artystycznych zatytułowanych Ostatnie zdanie / Last sentence. Akcja ZEJDZIEMY Z MURÓW GDY WEJDZIEMY DO TV to odtworzenie w przestrzeni miasta, napisu z lat 80-tych, w oryginalnym miejscu jego powstania. Planowana akcja przypomina, iż miasto jest przestrzenią wspólną, w obrębie której istnieją możliwości artykułowania swoich racji, a co za tym idzie – realnego wpływania na zmiany (warunków politycznych czy społecznych lub zmianę o charakterze świadomościowym i kulturowym). Ponadto, zamierzone działanie w przestrzeni miejskiej nawiązuje do ducha rebelii (rozumianej jako niezgoda na zaistniałą stagnacje czy opresję społeczną, polityczną czy kulturową oraz jako uporczywe dążenie do tego, by zmieniać otaczającą rzeczywistość) i w takim właśnie sensie ma przyczynić się do zaangażowania publiczności w działanie artystyczne zwracające uwagę na progresywną rolę sztuki wizualnej w tym procesie.

Interesujące mnie hasło powstało w zimie 1982 roku i było manifestację niezgody na stan wojenny oraz związane z nim represje polityczne i społeczne oraz brak dostępu do systemu informacji. Napis ten był kilkakrotnie zamalowywany i ponownie przywracany przez anonimowych przedstawicieli opozycji demokratycznej, co było rodzajem dyskursu stron przeciwnych w przestrzeni publicznej. Swoim działaniem chcę odtworzyć nie tylko sam napis, ale także przypomnieć proces jego pojawiania się i znikania w przestrzeni wspólnej miasta, a także pozwolić mu na wędrówkę w czasie i przestrzeni przez akcje manifestacji postulatu o dostęp do informacji, wolności słowa i demokracji.

The project Last Sentence. WE’LL GET OFF THE WALLS WHEN WE GET TO THE TV is an action that inaugurates a range of artistic activities entitled Ostatnie zdanie / Last sentence. Action WE’LL GET OFF THE WALLS WHEN WE GET TO THE TV is the reconstruction of the sentence from the 80s on the wall at Warsaw's street. The action reminds of the fact that the city is a common space, whose scope offers the possibilities of articulating one’s reasons, and what follows – laying bare the status quo and tangibly influencing its change (it would not always amount to a change in political or social conditions, though it would always constitute a consciousness- and culture-related transformation). Moreover, the planned action in urban space addresses the spirit of rebellion (understood as a disagreement with the existing stagnation or social, political or cultural oppression, as well as a persistent pursuit of changing the surrounding reality), and it is in this very sense that it is supposed to contribute to involving the audience into the artistic activity, highlighting the progressive role of visual arts in this process.

ZEJDZIEMY Z MURÓW GDY WEJDZIEMY DO TV jako rebelia konieczna

Zuzanna Janin w KP NWŚ przedstawi swój projekt ZEJDZIEMY Z MURÓW GDY WEJDZIEMY DO TV, polegający na odtworzeniu napisu na murze z okresu stanu wojennego. Projekt ten początkowo miał stanowić rodzaj gry z pamięcią przywołującej tradycję symbolicznej walki odbywającej się na murach Warszawy na przestrzeni XX wieku. Po apelu Ganzeera, egipskiego street-artowca, który wystąpił do artystów na całym świecie, z prośbą o wyrażenie sprzeciwu wobec tłumienia pokojowych protestów na ulicach Kairu, stało się jasne, że akcja ta będzie jednocześnie aktem solidarności z kairskimi rebeliantami - z brutalnie tłumioną rewolucją Egipską Wiosną. Zuzanna Janin podejmuje się ponownej interpretacji odtwarzanego hasła w odniesieniu do obecnych realiów. Artystka traktuje je jako wyjątkowo trafną metaforę wiecznego dialogu niezgody pomiędzy ulicą a władzą. Jego istotą było zawsze kategoryczne żądanie dopuszczenia do głosu, do udostępnienia przestrzeni medialnej, walka o wolność słowa, o rzetelną informację w mediach, o prawa jednostki, o demokrację. Podczas spotkania artystka przyjrzy się rewolucjom i protestom ostatnich kilkudziesięciu lat, poczynając na roku 1968, a na Ruchu Oburzonych i Occupy Wall Street kończąc. Będzie to próba spojrzenia na ten temat z perspektywy artystki podejmującej działania w przestrzeni publicznej i odnoszącej się do kwestii dotyczących oddziaływania sztuki współczesnej oraz jej społecznego charakteru.

New Part of the Collection of 20th and 21st Century Art

Muzeum Sztuki in Lodz owns one of the most interesting collections of 20th and 21st century art in Europe, mostly from the area of experimental art. The primary value of the collection is its constant openness to modernity. The heart of the collection – setting its historical and aesthetical roots – is the International Collection of Modern Art of the “a.r.” group. It is a phenomenon on a global scale, as it has been initiated by the artists themselves and formed as a result of a joint effort to act beyond and against any boundaries. In thems², the Muzeum’s collection would be arranged on the surface of 3000 m² – certainly larger than in previous building.

Formulation of the idea of permanent exhibition was preceded by the Drafts to the Collection of 20th and 21st Century Art: Art & Politics, Power of Formalism and Beyond the Reality Principle – three exhibitions showing works of art from a new perspective. The Drafts became a preview of the forthcoming permanent exhibition. Basic aim of the new idea is to constantly update and stimulate the potential of art presented in the museum. Therefore it breaks off from the chronological principle, as the works of art situated in this order become nothing more than an illustration of some epoch or artistic movement.

The ms² exhibition presents an artwork not only as a memento of the elapsed time, but also as an occurrence and a statement that is important for us today.
The key that organizes the exhibition is represented by four groups of terms – crucial for interpreting contemporary culture, and on the other hand coming from the “a.r.” collection. Among them are such notions as: “utopia”, “image”, “body” or “phantasm”. As a result, the proposed narration offers the viewers an alternative form of perception of the 20th an 21st century art, that concentrates not on the historical context, but on the meaning of art, which can refer to problems significant for us nowadays.

Shiryaevo Biennale: «: between Europe and Asia» is the largest and most authentic event of contemporary art in the Samara region. Shiryaevo Biennale takes place every August of every odd year since 1999 in traditional Russian village, which lays right on the bank of the Volga river.
The Biennale was attended by artists and curators from Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Lithuania, Estonia and Armenia.
It has been published catalogs - 1999, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2009, CD - 2005.
Each Biennale is devoted to research up to date topics, in the situation of “between Europe and Asia.”
Under the theme of 2011 it is invited to explore ideas about stereotypes of “others” in the context of processes and events between Europe and Asia.

Colliding Discourses addressing the course and results of discourses colliding, for instance between and within nations, between Art and the Law, the view on sex or how history is written. The rate of discourses colliding increases with the improving speed of globalization. What happens when discourses come into conflict? What discourses prevail?

Time: 4th – 21st august, 2011, Art Center, Samara.

In the other contribution Kalmar Konstmuseum has put together a group of artists for an ”international creative laboratory”, a work in progress and a workshop where the artists work together in dialogue for an extensive period of time.. This takes place in a traditional russian village on a peninsula in the river Volga, a few hours by boat from Samara. The artists are quartered in russian families for the stay. The Workshop is concluded in a public round tour August 20-21 where all of the artists and visitors walk between the works in a combined discussion, party and performance touching everything between art and society. The idea is also that the artists will share experiences in order to build cultural bridges. The swedish artists Kalmar Konstmuseum selected for the group are Kalle Brolin, Klas Eriksson, Ingela Ihrman, Kristina Müntzing, Jörgen Platzer and Greta Weibull, most of which have a strong connection to the Kalmar region. Apart from these, artists from Russia, Germany, Estonia, France and Kazakhstan will participate.

Shiryaevo Biennale is organized by The Volga Region Branch of the National Center for Contemporary Arts. The Biennale was founded in 1999, which makes it one of the oldest biennales in Russia, and focuses on its location Between Europe and Asia which also is the name of this years theme.

It is a great honor for Kalmar konstmuseum to be an invited contributor for the biennale. It is also shows the international recognition the museum has received. The project has been made possible with the generous support from Kulturrådet and IASPIS. Contribution has also come from the Austrian Cultural Forum in Moscow as has support from the Swedish Embassy in Moscow.

Be Like a TV STAR from the 70s is a art-performance featuring the “multiplied” figure of Majka, the protagonist of the Polish TV series from the 70s “wandering around the Venice Biennale”.

The performence is open for the volunteer participants from among the visitors to the Biennale: who in fact are just asked to visit Biennale as usual, but dressed in the "uniforms" of Majka – tipical light blue shirt. People will also receive the bags with the titles of the shows where the work will be presented at Venice Biennale later on September. It forms part of the later exhibition and is linking the presentation of Majka from the Movie video at two shows in Venice 2011: New Gallery Romanian Institute and Signum Foundation.

In Venice, everyone who “plays” Majka, a wandering heroine, a cult Polish TV star will create a part of the project: the figures radically multiplied will be seen in Venice, similar to the forgotten and faded heroine, torn out of the old TV series. Such presence of different people dressed like Majka, a character from TV, as well as from video installation, will blur the boundaries between TV series, film, video installation and performance.

Majka’s appearance during the opening days of the Venice Biennale is also an opportunity to announce the international exhibition project Memory Box / The Last Analog Revolution with opening scheduled for 1^st September 2011 in frame of ROMANIAN CULTURAL RESOLUTION, a part of representation of Romania at Venice Biennale 2011. The figure of Majka symbolises and vizualises one of the most essential characteristics of the entire generations of those who lived under the communist regime: restless nature of the generation whose hunger for freedom and accomplishment was suppressed by the regime propaganda, ideology, terror, and the generation that managed to ultimately combat the terror.

Particolare, the second exhibition of the diptych presenting selected works from the Signum Foundation Collection as well as works by invited artists will take place at the Venetian headquarters of the Foundation during the 54th Biennale.
With the first part of the diptych, entitled Awake and Dream, the Polish foundation inaugurated its activity in Venice in 2009. While the first exhibition was dedicated to the concept of desire, the second one, under the title Particolare (from the work by Giovanni Anselmo), refers to the concept of democracy.
The concepts of desire and of democracy lie within the field of the foundation’s interests. Throughout a variety of artistic and societally-engaged activities, the foundation seeks to realize the ideal of openness to others. The desire of democracy arises in a society as a result of the pursuit of equality, justice and freedom.
The exhibition – within the obvious limits – is an attempt to illustrate the complex links between art and democracy. The changing course of history defines their mutual dependence in many ways but the defense of democratic values as well as the criticism of any new threats are always very important to the artists.

Pierwsza część dyptyku pt.: Awake and Dream, inaugurująca działalność Signum Foundation Palazzo Donà w 2009 roku, zbudowana była wokół pojęcia pragnienia i pożądania. Część druga, pod tytułem Particolare, zaczerpniętym z pracy Giovanniego Anselmo, poświęcona jest pojęciu demokracji.
Pojęcia pragnienia i demokracji należą do obszaru zainteresowań Fundacji Signum, która poprzez różnorodne działania artystyczne i społeczne, realizuje ideę otwarcia na drugiego człowieka. Pragnienie demokracji pojawia się w przestrzeni społecznej w wyniku dążenia do równości, sprawiedliwości i wolności.
Wystawa ma na celu – oczywiście w ograniczonym zakresie - ukazanie złożonych związków pomiędzy sztuką a demokracją. Zmienne losy historii w różny sposób definiowały ich zależność, przy czym zarówno obrona wartości demokratycznych, jak i krytyka jej zagrożeń, znajdowały się zawsze w obszarze zainteresowań i zaangażowania artystów.
